Why Is The Sky Dark At Night?

Informative little short with some nice time lapse footage thrown in for good measure.

HOME (English with subtitles)

W O W. Featuring shots from acclaimed aerial photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, whose cinematography, covering landscapes in 54 countries, provides a journey you’ll never be able to experience anywhere else. We really do live on an amazing planet. One time I'll go for the opposite of my usual advise and say LOOK DOWN.

Scratch

Hip to the bone documentary slash movie about the evolution of hip-hop DJs, scratching and turntablism. Wicky wicky.

Underwater Base Jumping

World champion freediver Guillaume Nery base jumps at Dean’s Blue Hole, the deepest blue hole in the world filmed entirely on breath hold.

Just unreal. Lungs on him!

On Earth - Rosebud

I don't think my brain, body, heart or soul have ever ached as much as they have this week, but a lot of darkness and this playing at a nice volume out of some decent speakers seems to be soothing it all somehow....

Through The Wormhole - Is There A Creator?

Ok, one american accented narrators voice I can make an exception to in a documentary would have to be Morgan Freeman :)

Can mathematics prove there was a creator?? Some mad new theories being thrown around in here. Some physicists reckoning on the fact of the universe being so finely tuned it couldn't even be the work of a divine hand, but more of intelligent design. Something I've often thought about, are we all just a creation of some Alien Being as some form of a reality SIM's type game for it's own amusement? F*ckin' feels like it sometimes!

Ulrich Schnauss - As If You've Never Been Away

Magic. That's all I can say on this one really. 720 and full screen it to fack!

What Humans Are Capable Of

Another excerpt from Carl Sagan's 'Pale Blue Dot'
Ever the optimist our Carl wha! I sometimes wonder do we even have another 50 years, let alone 50,000.

How many rivers will we have to cross though???

Candle Stop Motion Clip

Pretty cool, you'd want some patience all the same!

The Most Amazing Photo Ever Taken - Hubble Telescope

Way to make yourself feel insignificant!!

Mimic Octopus

Mad looking thing! Was first discovered only about 10 years ago off the coast of indonesia, it's the first known species to take on the characteristics of multiple species. It's able to copy the physical likeness and movement of over 15 different species. It's so intelligent that it is actually able to figure out which creature to impersonate that will present the greatest threat to whatever predator is imposing danger at the time. Mad!

Pogo Presents - Toyz Noize

Cooooooooool!

How Long Is A Piece Of String

Another excellent BBC Horizon, presented by Alan Davies. Bitta Booka Shade thrown in in the backround there too :)

Probably avoid watching this on a hangover, prepare for a bit of a head melt.

Liquid Mountaineering

Walking on water! One of the coolest clips I've seen in ages.

One small blog for man...

Just a small teaser montage of some partially restored footage of the moon landing. It's part of a larger restoration project that will be supposedly completed in September (woohoo) and provide a newly restored high definition video of the entire Apollo 11 moonwalk.

In 1969 the live broadcast was recorded onto tapes as a backup if the live feed failed. But of course those tapes were lost, sure why wouldn't they be.... and a three-year hunt for them was unsuccessful, (must have done a runner with the socks) so engineers were left just with recordings of the TV broadcast to work with, which obviously lost a lot of resolution as they travelled from the Moon to the tv stations.

BBC Horizon - Life and Death

Will scientists every discover the fountain of youth...........?

Who wants to live forever?? I for one don't think I'd fancy it anyway, imagine how bored you'd get knowing it was NEVER going to end. Although if they can prevent old age it mightn't be so bad, still though.. Invincibility on the other hand, that'd be some laugh. Cartwheelin' parachuteless out of planes n stuff.

Disappearing Electrons - Proving that Parallel Universes do exist?

Taken from the BBC Documentary - Parallel Universes. One of the most thought provoking doc's I have ever seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7SDrj4Tjvk

I take a lot of solace in the knowing that right now I'm living it up in an unimaginable paradise in some other time in a parallel universe.
Sometimes I think dreams are a flash leakage from another life you're living on another string.

It explains M-Theory, the Grand Unified Theory (GUT) that Einstein searched his whole life for. "Everything you're about to see here seems impossible and insane, beyond science fiction. Yet it's all true."

"Scientists now believe there may really be a parallel universe - in fact, there may be an infinite number of parallel universes, and we just happen to live in one of them. These other universes contain space, time and strange forms of exotic matter. Some of them may even contain you, in a slightly different form. Astonishingly, scientists believe that these parallel universes exist less than one millimeter away from us. In fact, our gravity is just a weak signal leaking out of another universe into ours."

Carl Sagan - Pale Blue Dot

Something to think about!

Lotus Evora

Time for an upgrade me thinks. The longer I hold off checking my lotto tickets, the longer the possible reality of the winnings lasts.

Seychelles sound-tracked by Sam Cooke - Wonderful World

Sitting here in my smelly office thinking about my new home in 8 months time - fits perfectly into both the making me smile and WOW categories :)
